Cape Cod & Boston, Recap & Photos!

by Mary Mary on October 6, 2009

I’m back from my weekend along the Massachusetts Coast! It was so much fun that coming back here to Green Mountain was harder than it should have been. I mean, I’m living at a health spa in vermont, so I don’t see why there should be any reluctance to come home, but I knew I would miss my original peeps who are all gone but one.

Anyway, the weekend was a nice way to send off two people I met here that were pretty awesome to me. On Saturday Lori drove home to Orleans in Cape Cod, and Rosanna and I kept her company. It turns out her community is right near the water and she can walk to see the Cape.

We also drove all around the Cape and saw lots of gorgeous little towns. We even went to the Atlantic Ocean! I saw the Ocean, which made me really happy! (And I watched a bunch of surfers which made me want to learn how to surf… next hobby?)

After exploring the area for a while we met up with Karen who had gone home the day before. She took us out to eat at a wonderful restaurant called Mac’s Shack. Don’t let the name fool you, because it was the best food I’ve had in a while. My main meal was pan-roasted halibut with lobster mashed potatoes and a saffron-lobster broth. Um, yes!! Delicious! Also for and appetizers we had scallops. It was my first time eating them and it was the best possible introduction to scallops ever. Ever. Those were all kinds of delicious. Sorry to go on about the food there but it was a huge highlight of that part of the trip. I took pictures of all my meals so I might post that separately later, for all to drool over.

We spent a very fun Saturday night in Karen’s cottage that sits right on the water of the Cape. Isn’t it just an adorable scene? Here is a picture of Rosanna and I, as well as one all on my own. Karen really got into the photographer role. ;)

On Sunday morning we woke up, ate a healthy breakfast and headed to Boston. We spent the afternoon in Cambridge so Rosanna could see Harvard and ate at Legal Sea Food where I had a tuna burger, fries, and broccoli. The tuna burger was good and very spicy, which I liked. Legal Sea Food got a thumbs up from me even if it couldn’t compare to Mac’s Shack. Hehe.

Sunday night was spent in a nice hotel and for breakfast we ordered room service, which was a first for me. That was fun! The rest of Monday was spent seeing Boston and exploring the city. Rosanna and I took a trolley tour for a while and then separated when I lost my ticket to the Harbor Cruise we were to go on. I walked some of the Freedom Trail instead and just wandered around the city looking at historical sites and people watching.

It was a BEAUTIFUL day and for me it was one of those days where I felt like I accomplished nothing yet it was still the best kind of day. My only failure was not meeting up with @fitarella, because of schedule and technical difficulties. Other than that my time in Boston was fantastic! Pictures to prove it:

I love Boston! It’s a very cool city. Have you ever been there? It seems to be a pretty nice city to live healthy in, besides the 13094 Dunkin Donuts shops, only one of which I visited.

Firsts:

- eating scallops (sooo good!)

- visiting/seeing/touching Cape Cod

- staying in a proper cottage (super cute!)

- eating a tuna burger

- ordering room service

- taking a trolley tour
