I admit, I spend way more time online reading than I actually do working. I guess that is due to the fact that my situation is not dire and I don’t feel the pressing need to make money faster than I am. I supposed I could be doing a lot more, but I am easily distracted by things online. There is just so much to look at and read! Don’t tell me you’ve never gotten distracted by something on the internet. If you try to say that then you are a big liar. At least I’ve been distracted lately by reading about people who are making money online and even some who have made enough money through online work to pay off their massive debt.
I love stories about people paying off debt. Yes, I am a fan of Dave Ramsey and his show. I think this stems from my own personal debt as well as that of my family. It would be nice for us to be able to say in a year or two that we are completely debt free. And to be honest, that could happen if you work hard enough at it.
One blog I just found that I’ve been reading did just that. The writer paid down 72,900 dollars in debt in under two years. I think that is ridiculously cool. And she did it all by making money online and building up a business that will keep making her money long after the debt is paid off. I’m sorry, but that is both inspiring to me and distracting because now I want to read about how she did it.
I love her post at the halfway mark where she listened to Dave Ramsey who said to pay off our debt like our lives depended on it. I think few people actually take this kind of advice. For the most part people are content to pay the minimums and continue the debt slavery as long as they can still buy what they want with their “extra” money. They forget all the money they are losing to the debt and figure it will be taken care of eventually.
I don’t want to be like that. I want to be like this awesome blogger who met her debt free goal!
I’ve been reading personal finance/credit/debt related blogs for over 4 years. That is how I’ve learned all the knowledge I have about money and personal finance. That is how I learned how to star
